Do not use coconut oil, this is what caused my bacterial vaginosis (BV) in the first place. Sorry, I just saw two people mention it and I had to comment. I have been using Balance Activ gel with lactic acid. It restores the pH level. Don't take this brand if you have a shellfish allergy though, and always test it on your wrist before using it. There are also other brands with lactic acid that don't have the shellfish. I also ordered probiotics, the Jarro-Dophilus women's brand and Renew Life women's brand.

I just started getting bacterial vaginosis (BV) and nothing has worked. Everyone keeps talking about a smell, I don't have any smells... it's the discharge for me. Ugh, I can't get rid of it, and I am tired of wearing pantyliners every day to keep my panties dry and clean. I'm lost, I've never in my life experienced this, and my doctor just keeps telling me to take RepHresh. That worked the first time only, this has been the worst 7 months with this recurring discharge. I don't know what to do to get rid of this nasty discharge.

Solosec is a new one time dose to treat bacterial vaginosis (BV). It's the only thing that worked for me! You can sprinkle it on yogurt or applesauce without chewing it and it works within hours. Better than being on antibiotics for a week. It's milder and effective.

I suffered from a pH imbalance for years. I treated it with anti-fungal medications. The white, thin, clumpy discharge came back. So, I thought it had to bacterial vaginosis (BV). I treated it with boric acid. But it came back every month. Tests were negative. I stuffed myself with probiotics. Then I discovered that excessive consumption of probiotics can cause overgrowth of the good bacteria lactobacilli and the best treatment is baking soda, sitz bath and/or douche. Google cytolytic vaginosis. If you are negative for yeast infection and BV, you may have this.

I dealt with the smell and discharge for almost 2 years before finding a solution for my bacterial vaginosis (BV). Taking a molybdenum supplement has helped so much. My issue must have been a candida yeast overgrowth, and I did a candida cleanse. I still take molybdenum everyday (6 months free from BV). When I fear it may be starting up again I drink 2 ounces of apple cider vinegar (with the mother). I tried everything - from Chinese medicine to yoni steams, probiotics, hydrogen peroxide douches, you name it. Don't give up.

I have struggled with bacterial vaginosis (BV) for 3 years and no antibiotics ever worked. After some research, I started taking a clove of garlic each morning on an empty stomach. Then after about 45 minutes, I eat a serving of natural yogurt. This helps to populate your gut with more AB live cultures - the type of bacteria found in your gut. Apparently it balances your vaginal pH. Then I wash my vagina twice a day with warm water mixed with 5 drops of tea tree oil. Within a week my BV was gone.

I know there will be many that disagree, but I think bacterial vaginosis (BV) is a sexually transmitted infection. It is caused by many different types of bacteria and metronidazole does not cover all of them, hence sometimes it doesn't work at all. Men carry it in the urethra and under the foreskin. The high rate of recurrence is due to reinfection. Both partners need to be treated. Doxycycline was the only thing that worked (all other tests were negative). Metronidazole and clindamycin did nothing to solve the problem.

I've suffered from bacterial vaginosis (BV) for more than 20 years. All the medications, all the home remedies, nothing worked. Now, I did have some relief from my symptoms, but nothing was working. Finally I did some research into probiotics, and I started out taking 25 million CFU lactobacillus, 2 times a day. I noticed a change in my vagina immediately. But a week later BV was back. I upped my lactobacillus acidophilus up to 30 billion CFU. I take 2 tablets 2 times a day… 120 billion CFU has started to change my vagina.

The following treatment is good for bacterial vaginosis. Cut out meat and alcohol. Drink plenty water. Douche with 3 percent hydrogen peroxide twice a week. Use virgin coconut oil with a little baking soda once per week.

The thing that's helped the most for my bacterial vaginosis is probiotic greater than 50 billion (says my obstetrician/gynecologist and anything less won't make it past the stomach acid). Also, I've made homemade suppositories with coconut oil and probiotics. I melted the coconut oil (about 3/4 cup) in a double-boiler until liquid, let it cool a bit down to room temperature, dumped about 8 probiotic capsule contents in it, stirred thoroughly, and froze them in a skinny silicone ice cube tray. I use them as needed at night.

I've suffered from bacterial vaginosis (BV) for many years. Half of those years I didn't even know what BV was and suffered in silence, scared to discuss it. Tried the metronidazole and clindamycin pills back to back. I'm allergic to metronidazole. I took them and now I have permanent scars from hives if it couldn't get any worse. But finally one fabulous doctor gave me clindamycin pills. I took two sets back to back, then another treatment a month later; cured. I had been using the cream for a number of years and it never cured me fully.

Clindamycin vaginal cream worked well. This knocked out the bacterial vaginosis infection. To keep it from coming back I started taking RepHresh probiotic. I also started using the Good Clean Love line of products: Restore, Balance personal wash, and BioNude lube. I also stopped using tampons and switched to Softdisc menstrual discs. This made a huge difference because my period seemed to be a trigger.

I followed the baking soda suppository suggestion for bacterial vaginosis. It worked. I did this in the morning and evening, and once again on the following day. By the next day the odor during sex was gone. The first time I inserted the baking soda a lot of discharge came out. I think that was a sign it was working. I followed that up by soaking in the bath with Epsom salt. As a daily prophylactic I drink a lot of water, take a cranberry supplement, Queen V probiotic, and 5 drops of oregano oil in a tbsp. olive oil daily.

I have struggled for years, with all things to do with sex setting off a bout of bacterial vaginosis, so much so that my doctor put metronidazole on my repeat prescription. I tried everything else I could find on the web to clear it up, but nothing worked other than either taking the antibiotic or simply not having sex. I Read somewhere coconut oil can make it worse but I thought, it can't get any worse, so I tried it. Oh my goodness, it worked! A small amount, just coated my fingers and applied inside and it was gone in hours. My life is back!

I truly believe that semen and new sex partners can cause the bacterial vaginosis flare ups, especially if he is uncircumcised. The bacteria may live in his foreskin and transmit to you. I didn't have a problem for years but as soon as I had a new partner, bam! It was back, and he ejaculated inside me. I was prescribed Flagyl twice. It came back. So I tried one of the hydrogen peroxide-on-a-tampon methods. I'm crossing my fingers. Doctors don't want to explore cures. Only treatments, to keep you coming back.

Nothing had worked for my bacterial vaginosis; not until this thread... this post. It was almost immediate. Lady with the baking soda and a Ziploc bag, you saved my life! I showered with baking soda water and used it for the outer parts of my vagina. Then I made the baking soda/water suppositories in a Ziploc bag. I inserted one and within an hour, the fishy smell was gone. I am starting yogurt daily in my diet as well. I can't believe I've struggled this long but I brush my teeth with baking soda every day. Who would have thought! Thank you.

I tried everything to get rid of my bacterial vaginosis after years and years of feeling embarrassed and frustrated. The only thing that worked was taking the herbal supplements Andrographis. I took 3 tablets 3 times a day. It originally took almost 2 months to properly clear up but it was worth it. It's threatened to come back on a couple of occasions but one or two days of taking the Andrographis again seems to ward it off. I sympathize with anyone suffering from this. It's not nice.

Baking Soda and water helped cure my bacterial vaginosis. I am on day two and my lady part feels a lot better and less stressed. I place a few scoops of baking soda into a small sandwich bag and added water until the baking soda stuck together nice and firm. I then broke the baking soda apart using my fingers and placed pieces of the baking soda inside of my lady part (vagina). Within the first 24 hours of trying this the fishy smell that I was experiencing was very little to none. Baking soda is a deodorizer!

I suffered from bacterial vaginosis for several years. Two years ago, I gave up meat, dairy, alcohol and coffee during Lent and had no symptoms. I told my doctor about this and she responded, "Well, sure. If you want to take those drastic measures." Well, yes, doctor, I'll change my diet if I don't have to walk around with an itchy, malodorous vagina! I'm not always strict with my diet and I notice that if I don't have a big salad once a day, I start drinking coffee, and have a few drinks of alcohol, it returns.

I will say that once you get bacterial vaginosis (BV) it's like a door opens and you are much, much more apt to have recurrent infections. Luckily, the solution is cheap and easy. As soon as you feel an itch, or the hint of itch, soak a tampon in 3 percent hydrogen peroxide (HP). Insert and leave in for 30 to 40 minutes. Repeat again in 5 to 6 hours or next day. Infection clears immediately. Use a new douche syringe filled with the HP right after he ejaculates inside, to reset your vaginal pH as a preventative if semen is your BV trigger.

I tried the baking soda and water drink for my bacterial vaginosis; it tasted terrible and was not effective. I tried the vinegar and water wipes, again, not effective. I tried eating yogurt every day and it worked. I don't like yogurt, but, every day, I eat a blueberry yogurt and I no longer, stink! It's a beautiful thing.

I've taken metronidazole again and again for my bacterial vaginosis (BV) but the antibiotic just gets rid of the infection while I'm on the course. A week or so later the BV comes back. I happened to be in New Zealand recently and picked up some supplements made from honey bees only to strengthen my immune system. The capsules are bee propolis, they are supposed to be anti-bacterial and anti-viral. Guess what, my BV disappeared, I'm stunned.

I've struggled with bacterial vaginosis (BV) for years. An effective solution for me was using medicated douche (povidone-iodine) in the morning and 1 boric acid capsule at night. Another effective method that worked was my doctor swabbing me with povidone-iodine. For maintenance, inserting a boric acid capsule after intercourse helps prevent recurrence of BV. I also take probiotics to keep the good bacteria flowing.

I've tried everything for my bacterial vaginosis, until one day I got probiotics and it made it worse. The itchiness was unbearable, I went to see different doctors without success, and absolutely nothing worked. I was about to give up and accept my fate when I went to a grocery store and picked up baking soda. The first day I had a sitz bath and I could immediately see the difference. It wasn't completely cured so I started douching with it 3 times a week, and bathing with it every day for 2 weeks. It went away, and it's been 2 years.

I'm 14 months bacterial vaginosis (BV) free now after suffering with it coming and going for two years. I tried a few popular recommended treatments found on the internet, but the BV always came back, until this one. Here's what I had. I went to my doctor, took 7 days of the prescribed metronidazole just to flush and kill the germs first, then took probiotics (Renew Life Critical Care 50 billion) one pill per day for two months. After that I have been taking one pill every 4 to 5 days just as a preventative measure.

Antibiotics became ineffective for my bacterial vaginosis. Using 600 mg boric acid intravaginal suppositories (do not eat) nightly for two weeks, then after sex, and organic virgin unprocessed coconut oil have been effective. Spermicides and other lubricants or soaps might cause a problem. See a good gynecologist in case there are other issues.

I was date raped by a man with a disease, when I was 22. I panicked the next day and douched several times with rubbing alcohol the next day. So I get bacterial vaginosis now and it's so painful. I'm worried about having major health problems in the future because I've disrupted the flora in my vagina and my uterus. I'm using probiotics. I use boric acid. I am trying to find what I can do to create an environment in my belly that will help it heal. I've been working on it. Also need to see what I can do about my diet.

Please see a doctor for an accurate diagnosis. Bacterial vaginosis (BV) is not treated the same way as a yeast infection! BV requires prescription antibiotic treatment and then, and to prevent a recurrence condom use - not having unprotected genital/oral contact with the vagina. A daily women's probiotic and/or daily oral garlic tablets may help prevent recurrence as well, but these will not cure a BV infection. If you are in perimenopause/menopause, intravaginal estrogen can help prevent BV.

For those still struggling with the bacterial vaginosis (BV) monster, what helped me was going to a vulvovaginal specialist to get a wide panel test done of what exactly was growing in my vagina and why the medicine I was getting wasn't working after being prescribed tons of Flagyl, clindamycin, Metrogel, Diflucan, etc. I was at my wits' end by then, and turns out I had a compound infection of strep (group B strep) and E coli bacteria due to lack of the good germs. Probiotics saved my life. Just awful when I have to take antibiotics.

The only thing that worked for me was Flagyl. I don't care what anyone says about it, it worked and I've been bacterial vaginosis (BV) free for 4 years now. I tried a few other natural things before resorting to antibiotics (with the exception of the garlic idea; oh my goodness, who on this earth stuffs garlic up their vagina). Sure Flagyl has bad reviews, all medication has bad reviews from someone. But that is what worked for me finally.

Be patient and give this a try if you're pH isn't acidic enough and you have bacterial vaginosis. Drink at least 64 oz. of water a day (get a 24 oz. bottle which makes it seem less and if you like, add real lemon juice to help). Eat yogurt with tons of good bacteria (if yogurt is nasty to you add a touch of honey). Make more healthy decisions versus bad when it comes to your diet. The water helps flush out toxins, and yogurt brings in the good bacteria. Be patient and care about yourself, if you got this!

Over the past three years I have experienced bacterial vaginosis (BV) every week. I would take antibiotics for seven days and the 10th day it would literally be back. I went into deep prayer because I felt that this would be something that I would live with for the rest of my life. I stopped washing my vagina with Dove soap and started to use Summer's Eve daily wash and water only. Our vaginas are self-cleaning organs. I haven't had once since. I am so relieved and thankful.

I suffered with bacterial vaginosis (BV) for several years. Anytime I had sex I will contract BV. I was always prescribed Flagyl and other medication for my partner and myself. But it always keeps coming back. The smell was awful. Until a couple months ago I was prescribed Zinnat and antibiotics. And the doctor told me to replace my water intake with cranberry water. That was in May 2019. We are in October 2019 and to date no BV.

I have suffered with bacterial vaginosis for two years. After the first year I had Merina coil fitted and for some strange reason had nothing for a whole year; I was getting it several times a year. But it has now come back and had it twice in two months. The doctor gave me three lots of the antibiotic gel, as it was getting so expensive paying for prescription each time it came back. Apparently there's nothing you can do but to just treat every time it comes back.

Until it no longer worked. I heard of boric acid douche. I'm like no way! But after about a week of having the smell of tilapia… Here is what I did. Take 3 teaspoons of boric acid inside an empty clean douche bottle. Fill the rest with warm water. Shower and then douche. For the next 7 days same routine. My problem is solved! Hope this helps.

I got bacterial vaginosis (BV) after 2 bouts of thrush that didn't clear away immediately after fluconazole treatment. I tried hydrogen peroxide, tea tree and coconut oil, then Blackmores Flora Balance vaginally for a week each but they only provided temporary relief for a day or so. I think it's because the bad anaerobic bacteria had formed a strong biofilm. I just tried 5 days of 2 ml of Betadine vaginally with 3 Life-Space Women's Microflora orally and noticed the discharge clear and stay that way so far. I'm hopeful!

I struggled with bacterial vaginosis (BV) for over a year. It just kept coming back. What finally cured it was a combination of clindamycin intravaginal suppositories for two months and metronidazole orally for two weeks, twice daily. The main issue was managing the symptoms between recurrences. I found Canesbalance would resolve symptoms for a few days, but antimicrobials were the only effective treatment.

Then I went back again; more antibiotics. Then the BV came back. It was just back and forth like this for a few weeks. I started trying out home remedies after that. I tried everything under the sun! It wasn't until I tried VeeCleanse that everything changed! After years of failure I am feeling 100 percent! I cried so hard in relief and joy!

If you keep getting bacterial vaginosis regularly, you are not cleaning yourself properly or your partner is cheating on you! I always knew when my ex was cheating. My body pH will go off! Ladies clean yourself front to back! Shower at least twice a day. Do not use scented soaps or creams down there. I also took a worm medication for parasites, and a probiotic. I got mine after getting my period for the 1st time in 2 months and using tampons regularly. I am not sexually active. No masturbation nothing.

I went to 2 doctors and finally found a cure for my bacterial vaginosis. Apparently, it's easy to get your pH levels off. The stronger the smell the more products I used, and the worse it got. No more baths, showers only. I use all RepHresh products including the probiotic and gel. Drink lots of water and keep the area dry especially during swim season. I was so discouraged I almost quit work. My doctor also started me on a progesterone cream and it helped.

I had bacterial vaginosis (BV) for 1st time after a stressful year. I tried antibiotics but it came back. So I took a daily oral probiotic with Lactobacillus rhamnosus in. This didn't work on its own. Meanwhile I used kefir yoghurt on a pad to ease the symptoms. I then cut out all white wine, prosecco and sugar from my diet and it is healing now after a few weeks. I also used a pessary of L. crispatus which I think helped.

I've been prescribed the Metrogel on several occasions for bacterial vaginosis (BV) which works as long as I finish the entire 5 night course and refrain from having sex. I also began taking a daily probiotic and eating more yogurt. It seems as if anytime I have sex (with or without a condom) I contract BV again. I've tried boric acid capsules from BoriCap and The Killer (5 to 7 days) at night which seemed to have helped with the odor but not the discharge. I'd say try both for 14 days, twice a day, 1 in the morning and 1 in the evening.

I had recurring bacterial vaginosis (BV) for most of my teen and adult years. It would clear up after prescription medicines and come back over and over again. It was ruining my life and my confidence. Here's what I did. Despite the caution not to, I used a vinegar douche because I felt like there was stuff I wanted to flush out. Then I immediately inserted a tea tree and coconut oil soaked tampon. I instantly had relief from the smell. I repeated this over a few days with breaks In between... cured! Good luck!

I've struggled on and off with bacterial vaginosis for 20 years. My solution now is, flush 3 times each day, for 2 days, with hydrogen peroxide (HP). After each flush insert a tea tree oil suppository (10 drops in a cup of coconut oil, stir and pour into an ice tray and freeze, gives you time to get it in there easily), after those 2 days. I do this more than 2 days, only I use apple cider vinegar instead of the HP. After 4 days, drop down to 1 flush/day, but insert a lactobacillus probiotic tablet in there 3 times a day for 4 days. Also take probiotic orally.

My bacterial vaginosis started about two weeks ago. The doctor put me on some antibiotics for 7 days that I finished this Monday. But I found there was still a smell (not the usual scent) and a bit of discharge. So I started taking a tampon and soaking it in virgin coconut oil, tea tree oil and thyme oil, I would insert twice a day for 2 hours. It's Thursday now and I am completely back to normal down there. So relieved. Oh, I was also doing apple cider vinegar rinses.

I have tried to sit in a tub with water and sea salt, nothing; douche that had hydrogen peroxide with equal parts water for about 5 days, and have been prescribed both metronidazole and clindamycin for a week each and nothing. I am taking probiotics and multivitamins, have changed underwear and sleep without pants at night. I do not use hard soaps just some water. Also I did a mixture of tea tree, coconut oil and turmeric, and still nothing!

It wasn't until I went to the gynecologist that I was given medicine that appears to be working. It's called Solosec. If you take it with pudding, use a lot of pudding and prepare for a chance of gagging while swallowing. I took it 2 days ago, and pain is receding.

I've had good results for bacterial vaginosis with boric acid suppositories (love them as they are inexpensive and really work, and I can buy mine discreetly on Amazon), as well as baths with tea tree oil or apple cider vinegar. I also love to eat Greek yogurt, and I take probiotics when I remember. Seems to be working well! Don't douche ladies, it really isn't good for you. Definitely talk to your obstetrician/gynecologist first.

I used Monistat which helped for a while but the bacterial vaginosis came back about a month later. So I wanted to take a more natural route this time and applied tea tree oil that has vitamin E oil in it. I soaked a tampon in the tea tree/vitamin E oil and applied it around the affected area and to my surprise, it worked wonders. I started just yesterday and today there's no itching, redness, or discharge.

I've been drinking baking soda and water on an empty stomach every morning for bacterial vaginosis. I'm on day 9, and it is said not to take this longer than a month. However, I feel much better, no discharge and no smell. I found out that baking soda alkalizes the body so I also changed my diet. I eat a lot of food that's high in alkali. I also take vitamin B, C, D and E, and acidophilus probiotics, and I have no problems right now. For me it was a nutritional problem and the doctors could not help me.

For quick, several hour odor control, keep a little jar filled with coconut oil, tea tree oil, and boric acid. Put on tampon. This can kill the infection causing bacterial vaginosis (BV). I recommend continuing this treatment (make suppositories using silicone ice stick trays) for 21 days in a row, then follow up with a woman's probiotic that contains both Lactobacillus reuteri RC-14 and L. rhamnosus GR-1, such as Fem-Dophilus. Do plain coconut oil suppositories for maintenance. Also, the NIH says thyme oil can kill BV biofilm. Good luck!

From all of my research after experiencing bacterial vaginosis (BV) 2 times in my life here's what I understand/believe, plus the cure I came up with after reading lots of personal experiences and reviews of women who have used Flagyl. It is my firm belief taking prescription antibiotics for BV actually makes it worse. Then the BV comes back stronger than before creating an even worse problem. When I first noticed something was off I treated it with Monistat and when that didn't fix everything up then I knew it was BV. I immediately took a bath with baking soda and tried to wash everything out down there. It didn't work. Then my period started and didn't smell right so after it stopped I put antibiotic ointment up there. it seemed like the smell was coming from my cervix so I assumed maybe the bacteria was also in my uterus so I knew I needed to treat it by altering my body chemistry and make it an inhospitable environment for bad bacteria. All the while I have been drinking tons of probiotics and taking aged garlic with mushroom complex, but that alone was not enough. Then I put kefir up there but it stinks in its own fermented way so that wasn't my solution either. I gave it a little over 24 hours and went and got a pelvic exam and the doctor said she didn't see any gross discharge but she did do a whiff test of the Q-Tip and said it had a bit of a fish smell so she prescribed me Flagyl which I did not take. I got some refined coconut oil and took 2 aged garlic, 2 echenatia and 1 rose hip and I think a multivitamin. It was enough but a lot came dripping out once it melted. Then I mixed 1 tbsp. of coconut oil still mostly solid and one 550 mg rose hips pill. Then I lay on a towel down in the bathroom and inserted it all and used my finger to rub it around my cervix. The rose hips is grainy and it sort of exfoliated the inside of my vagina and I believe that is what destroyed the biofilm in addition to attacking it from the inside by taking those supplements and drinking lots of water/green tea. I used some more plain coconut oil for lubrication a few more times during the night then in the morning I drank a Good Belly 20 billion watermelon probiotic drink and only had a banana and a yogurt, then I took more of my supplement combo (2 Kyolic aged garlic mushroom complex, 2 echenatia and 1 rose hips) and then I didn't need any more coconut oil, my body began functioning normally. Other times when I noticed a fishy smell I would put a few drops of tea tree oil on my finger and put it up there when I get out of the shower and lay on my back and spread so that air could get in there and also let the sun shine in and get some light in the vagina for a couple of minutes and that fixed it for me. I was out of tea tree oil but I'm glad I found the coconut oil and rose hips treatment, it was super effective.

Ladies, I struggled so long and so terribly with bacterial vaginosis (BV) for years! I finally found my problem; low progesterone. I found a vial of topical progesterone and use a few drops in the morning, and I haven't had BV since. It was an absolute miracle. Before that I was using ActiGel and probiotics, which helped, but was not a cure. Progesterone changed my life.

I heard Prevegyne works very well for bacterial vaginosis. It is ascorbic acid for vaginal use and you can find it over the counter in pharmacies. If is burns, just coat in coconut oil and then introduce it in the vagina. Another remedy that can help is essential tree oil, 3 to 7 drops mixed with coconut oil. Make a small amount, put it in the freezer to give it a consistency and then introduce it into the vagina. It works excellent for the smell and some women can be even cured by it.

I work in a medical office and I see many women suffering from bacterial vaginosis (BV). I have BV also. So I did research. First I started with daily probiotics, golden seal and Walmart brand vaginal probiotic, and I take them at night. In the beginning I used boric acid vaginal suppositories seven days straight, now once a week, and twice in the week after my period. I make my own suppositories, you can buy all the supplies from Amazon. I also use tea tree oil soap and if I take a bath I will pour 1 cup apple vinegar in the water. After sex I will sometimes insert plain yogurt or another boric suppository. I try and limit my sugar intake and have lots of water. It is a lot of work but I haven't had a flare up in a very long time, my sex life is great and no worries about odor. I hope this help someone.

I am 26 years old. I have had bacterial vaginosis (BV) for almost 2 years. When I first had symptoms, I thought it was a yeast infection. I never really get any discharge with the bacterial infection as you would in a yeast infection but my symptoms are burning and itching, bad! I started going to my obstetrician/gynecologist for this and he put me on treatment with Cervugid ovules (vaginal suppository). After two months of treatment with Cervugid ovules, I had medical tests again and BV went away. I was cured of the disease. I am very happy that I got rid of that awful itching and horrible smell. Now I can start my life again.
I'm 40 years old and never had bacterial vaginosis before this past year. Today I went to the doctor for the third time in nine months. He gave me prescriptionss for Metronidazole (Flagyl) — both the cream and pills. He said I could take either one, they both work the same. He told me that for his patients that get a re-occurrence four to six times a year, he gives out a bunch of refills and for his patients that get it every month, he recommends taking a pill once a week just to keep a little of the antibiotic in your system. When I became infected with bacterial vaginosis the first time, I had been having sex with a new partner for five months. I wonder if this is only a coincidence. I'm still with the same (and only) partner. For me, I think stress is definitely my trigger. The first time was one week before my reconstructive knee surgery and the second and third times were immediately after a pretty nasty argument and breakup with said boyfriend. I chose to fill the prescription for the cream this time since I used the pills the last two times.

I've had bacterial vaginosis (BV) going on 6 years now. I can't say for sure I got it from my boyfriend, but the timing is there. The theme here is 'recurring'. You take an antibiotic, boric acid, coconut oil, probiotics, etc., and you do that every 10 to 30 days. But everyone gets it again. Recurring BV is caused by a biofilm and unfortunately I haven't found anywhere that it has a cure. If there's a doctor or patient that has beaten a biofilm, please share. Pretty please.

I'm so upset and life feels off track all because of bacterial vaginosis. I talk to my closest friend about it, but I'm so embarrassed. I've changed underwear, diet, and soaps. Still same issue. Frustrating!

Right at 20 years of bacterial vaginosis (BV) now. BV has just kept coming back. I am mentally exhausted. Depressed, over it, I don't know what to do. I've done boric acid, RepHresh, probiotics... the things I have put in my vagina the past few years in hopes of getting rid of this is absolutely ridiculous. It just keeps coming back. I have been alone now going on 3 years, I got tired of having to make excuses why I couldn't have sex. BV has and currently is ruining my life. I truly just feel like giving up. And I guess I have.

I am really suffering with bacterial vaginosis, and I don't even know what to do. Doctor prescribed me antibiotics but they seem not to be working.

UGHHH! BV again. This bv crap has really just torn me apart. I'm really funny about my downstairs area and it bothers me when things aren't peachy fresh but it's impossible to be fresh with bv popping up every minute. I have taken the medicine over and over again and I hate it because it gives me bad feelings like upset stomach and a metallic taste in my mouth but I take it because I want to be cured. Bv is also ruining my marriage because I can't figure why it keeps coming back and feel it may be my husband and he thinks I'm crazy and insecure with myself for always blaming him for cheating. I have been to 6 different doctors and no one can tell me why I keep developing this monster of an infection. Please help me someone has anyone found out yet why bv keep coming back. I'm miserable and depressed because I feel so nasty and I smell bad and can't imagine having sex with my husband smelling like I do. PLEASE HELP ME!!
A couple of years ago, I had reoccurring yeast infections and bacterial vaginosis infections. It seemed like the treatment for one was causing the other. Then one day, the symptoms just stopped and I was fine, or maybe I just got used to the symptoms. In either case, I didn't have any unusual discharge, irritation, or odor for about two years. Then, about two months after having sex with my new boyfriend, I got what I thought was another yeast infection and I used an over the counter, one day treatment for yeast infections. I forgot which brand, but buyer beware: It made the symptoms unbearably worse. After this I went to my gynecologist and was treated for the yeast infection. I was on my period then so she couldn't tell if I also had bacterial vaginosis. About a week later, I was diagnosed with bacterial vaginosis. Then another yeast infection, and then bacterial vaginosis and more bacterial vaginosis. And now I can't remember the order, but suffice to say I was visiting my gynecologist every other week for a couple of months. She suggested my boyfriend also take Flagyl and that didn't work either. We even stopped having sex and that also didn't work. After a couple more diagnoses and treatments the bacterial vaginosis /yeast infection symptoms went away, and I was fine again for another couple of months, but now I am pretty sure I have bacterial vaginosis again. I've heard that ladies like me should stay away from: wet swimsuits, thongs, oral sex, vaginal sex, tampons, perfumed soaps, fabric softeners, tight pants, and the list goes on. I've tried avoiding these, and I still can't figure out the cause, but it is nice to know I'm not the only miserable one out there!

I see a lot of tea tree oil used for bacterial vaginosis. However I can't find which one to buy, they all say external use only!

I have been living with BV for over 2 years now. I've taken every medicine, cream, vitamin that you can think of and spent too much money doing so. The only thing that works for me is hydrogen peroxide and vinegar! This doesn't cure my bv, but it takes away the odor temporarily. I use a turkey baster : / fill the bulb with peroxide and use it like a douche. I squeeze a small amount of peroxide out at a time and then use it like a suction. You can actually see the bacteria go to the top. Disgusting. I know! But it works and then I started dipping a tampon in vinegar water and inserting it afterwards for a few hours. I'm no doctor but this is the ONLY thing that has worked for me and makes having sex with my Bf bearable. Hope this helps someone.

I get BV all the time and had HPV. I use rePhresh. It's 15.00 and worth every penny. It eliminated my HPV flare-ups and helps with my bacterial vaginosis.
For bacterial vaginosis, what has helped me is eating yogurt!

I am 23 yrs of age I have no clue why BV keeps returning I have been to the doctor a million time and they cant find out why it keeps coming back. I have tried everything that they tell me to do to prevent it and nothing has worked. I usually get a BV infection at least 4 times a year. I really need help on how to resolve this problem. I'm so scared that I may have to live with this problem for the rest of my life.

I used to get bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection every month and I was prescribed different kinds of medications...but nothing helped. I've found this cure for yeast infection called femina flora and the symptoms of bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection went away. Also I've been eating yogurt every day that contains Lactobacillus acidophilus that supposed to fight yeast infection. It's been a while since I've felt symptoms of bacterial vaginosis and yeast infection.

My doctor finally got tired of giving me the same medicine over and over. She recommended boric acid caplets made by a compound pharmacy. I use one tablet each week and have not had a bacterial vaginosis flare up in 2 years.

I read most of your comments and feel as if you were writing about me. I can tell you that what finally "killed" my reoccurring BV was my gyno swabbed my uterus with betadine. It worked!!! I found too that if you are using "toys" and don't clean them with rubbing alcohol after each use that this will cause bacteria to grow when you use them again you infect yourself.

I am a thirty eight year old mother of 5. I have had one sexual partner for over fourteen years and only had rare yeast infections whenever I'm pregnant. For the past year though I have had a new relationship, only to find out that I have an increase in vaginal discharge with a fishy scent. I have gone to about four different doctors each one prescribing something different. The last treatment is the metronidazole gel and flocozone tablets but after the treatment finishes the scent disappears but the discharge is still excessive. I feel so dirty and I am afraid to have sex. Frankly I'm embarrassed, my partner says I must not worry because he understands, but I feel as if my entire life is engulfed with this thing. Sometimes I think it is the stress that encourages this. I can rest assured that there are others like me it hurts to know that my life is torn up over something I cannot control. I do all that the doctors ask: eat the right foods and wear the right clothes!

I've had bouts of bacterial vaginosis over the years and the flare ups are usually the result of stress or emotional strain. However, it puts a strain on relationships as it makes you nervous about having sex! I've found that avoiding sugar REALLY helps with re-infection rates and as well as yogurt, I take an acidophilus capsule every day too. My system doesn't tolerate Flagyl but there are pessaries and gels that you can insert into the vagina that work too!
